Certified Painting and Decorating Contractor
THE
VALUE OF WORKING WITH A CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR
Few of us would hire an unlicensed
physician or allow an untrained mechanic to replace the brakes
on our car. The same ought to be true of hiring a painting contractor.
Surprisingly, few painting contractors are licensed by the State
of Michigan, and fewer still are certified. In fact, there are
less than one dozen certified painting contractors in Michigan.
There is only one in the mid-Michigan area: T. L. Hart, Inc.
What is the value of using a Certified Contractor? Obtained through
the nation's only association representing painting contractors,
the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA),
the certification process demonstrates a commitment to professionalism
not characteristic of most painters. Certification is not only
a process -- it can take up to a year to obtain, it is also not
cheap. To meet the program criteria, the contractor must submit
references, insurance and regulatory documentation, office &
field management procedures, company safety program & training
documentation, blueprint reading & estimating systems, contract
systems, and personnel policies & procedures. On top of all
this, the contractor must take and pass a three-hour exam covering
safety, trade skills, estimating, accounting, insurance, cash
flow and legal requirements.
The certification is good for
three years, during which time there are ongoing training &
continuing educational requirements, when it must be renewed,
forcing the contractor to continuously update programs and systems
to meet legal and regulatory demands, as well as new product
& application procedures. Certification demonstrates a commitment
to excellence on the part of the contractor. It gives you, the
customer, a high level of confidence that you are hiring a trained,
skilled professional, one who is recognized nationally as having
met and surpassed standard industry practices. Contact T. L.
Hart, Inc., mid-Michigan's only Commercial Certified Contractor,
for all your painting needs.
